PickleballBC Salutes the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association on Two Recent Success Stories1/1/2023
Thanks to the President of the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association, Connie McCann, for her great news: 1. I wanted to update you on the Acoustifence panels that have been installed at Carnarvon Park pickleball courts. VRPA sent in our contribution of $4,000 to the District of Oak Bay. This goodwill gesture of $4,000 has built a significant bridge to an important Municipal partner as well as folks like Steve Mielke, who is the Director of Parks and Recreation, who talks with all the other Municipalities in our region. I am so very grateful that our Board approved this amount and the result it has created. I am now reaching out to players at this facility to get some feedback from them. I play there, not often in the winter but noticed a lessening of the westerly wind which is our summer wind here. It will be interesting to get players’ feedback. 2. Topaz Park Courts. A significant report is going before the City of Victoria Council during a Committee of the Whole meeting this coming week. Staff sent me a copy and the wonderful news is staff are strongly recommending 11 pickleball courts at this site, not the planned for 6. Plus, night lighting. VRPA will be asked to input into the design specifics, and I will be urging our Board to provide funds for fencing in the courts so that when we have tournaments here and even during regular play the ball will not impede other courts. Plus, we want a really good play surface laid down and will seek out your suggestion on what is the best standard available in BC for an outdoor pickleball play surface. Today is a really good day, Connie Victoria's District of Oak Bay Carnarvon Park Acoustifence Panels Comments are closed.
