Grant Program FAQ's
Why require a CLUB to sponsor?
Involving a local is a great way to make connections. They should be able to provide many forms of help - instruction, equipment either loan or purchase information and experience information from other locations. This intermediary may also lesson the admin load on the beneficiary.
Do Clubs have to match funds?
No, but it is a sign of support and commitment.
What or who is a 'recognized instructor'?
When we have trained NCCP Level 1 instructors this becomes easy. We are not there yet - we suggest submitting names and a short CV so the Review Committee can vet. A formal organized plan of instruction is vital.
Why only $500? That does not buy much.
These Grants are designed as seed money. Enough to get one off the starting blocks.
What do you mean by sustainability?
Too many initiatives start with a short term only plan - introduce and run. The overall objective from Pickleball BC is to enable continuation after the introductory period. After you provide a one hour gym period pickleball session - then what?
